Toyota began a massive recall Thursday concerning their flagship luxury brand Lexus. It appears around 264,000 mid-size luxury vehicles were found to have faulty fuel pipes that could cause the fuel tank to leak. The recall affects all the cars worldwide.
The recall includes Lexus models produced in Japan in 2005 and sold overseas, and Lexus, Mark X, and Crown models sold in Japan, according to Toyota Motor Corp. spokeswoman Yoshie Matsuura. The Lexus GS300, Lexus IS250, and Lexus IS350 vehicles are being recalled in Canada, the United States, England and Germany, Matsuura said.
Lexus has had to deal with it’s fair share of quality control problems recently. One could assume that as demand grow for the brand and production ramps up to bigger numbers, more problems slip through the cracks. The Japanese auto giant has promised to be more diligent in it’s quality control checks in the future.
If you own a Lexus than you should head over to your nearest dealer and get this sorted out.
