Nissan announced this thursday that it is recalling over 130,000 X-trail and Murano SUV’s because of a defect with their “Intelligent Keys”. A company spokesperson said that the lock device of the ignition key is not appropriately attached in some cars and it does not lock when the driver turns the engine off. No reports of injury related to the defect have surfaced, but Nissan is adiment in resolving the issue as quickly and painlessly as possible. The affected cars, produced between August 2004 and July 2006, should be taken back to Nissan dealers to resolve and fix the issue. Nissan spokeswoman Madoka Soma added that the company also began recalling about 10,000 Maxima sedan in North America. About 80,000 vehicles in North America will be affected by this recall. Recall letters are in the mail as I write this so if you’re car is indeed affected, take apropriate action right away!
