Volkswagen USA is issuing a recall concerning some 2005-2008 Jetta sedans and 2006-2008 Rabbit/GTI/R32 vehicles. It seems these select vehicles fail to fully conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108- Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.
What is the problem? Some vehicle may have missing or misplaced caps on certain aiming adjustments as follows:
–low beam horizontal aiming
–vertical aiming
–vertical aiming of low beam relative of the high beam(diagonal)
Since these items are required by Federal law, VW is taking all the right measures to insure this is fixed. If you believe your one of the one’s affected, simply head to your nearest Volkswagen dealer and they will check for you. If your car needs adjustment or replacement of any parts the dealer will promptly do so.
Improper headlight illumination is dangerous. It is a hazard not only to you, but to other motorists on the road. Make sure this is done right away as it is only a few minutes to fix and could help you in the long run.
