Ferrari is set to break ground on it’s motor-sport theme park in Abu Dhabi. The world’s first Ferrari theme park took a set closer to reality this Monday with an elaborate ceremony for the parks introduction. Included in the opening ceremony was the burial of a Ferrari time capsule to be opened in 2047, on the mark’s 100th anniversary. Contained in the capsule, amongst other things, a con rod and piston from the F2007 world championship winning F1 car. The park is set for completion in 2009. As far from a Disney style park as it gets, Ferrari’s theme park will cater to all motor-sport and driving enthusiasts with “sophisticated driving schools” and auto displays as well as a circuit that will be home to the Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix for 2009. Also featured will be the almost obligatory roller coasters and Ferrari gift shops. The park is a joint project between Ferrari and ALDAR Properties. Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, ALDAR Properties chairman, described the amusement park as a “destination that will resonate with sports lovers around the world.” Ferrari fans can start saving as it guarantees to be the trip of a lifetime.
