Although the official word is not yet out on the 2012 Toyota Tacoma, fans of the Japanese truck have been buzzing for months about whether next year’s small truck from Toyota will get a significant style redesign. Now, some details are emerging from alleged “leaks” from Toyota advertisements about what the 2012 Tacoma model will look like.
Reports from Left Lane News, an established source for new auto information, show that although the Toyota Tacoma may not get a complete redesign for 2012, the truck is likely to undergo some style changes, for example, a restyled fascia or front hood area. Analysts expect the truck to retain much of its angular yet softly contoured body style, with neatly shaped wheelwells and a fairly open front end. There are also suggestions of dashboard updates, and rumors that Toyota will want to include this truck in its lineup outfitted with the company’s new Entune in-dash tech system.
As for the engine, opinions differ on how much power will be under the hood of the 2012 Tacoma, and exactly what the block will look like. A 270 hp version of a 4 liter V6 has been suggested.
The Toyota Tacoma has captured the imagination of Toyota truck fans for years. This smaller truck represents a value purchase for a Japanese pickup at a time when the North American consumer base is going through some significant changes. One of the biggest stories in terms of overall Toyota appeal is the trend toward this brand in Latin American communities within the U.S. Media reports have studied Toyota’s brand appeal in this audience, as well as other demographics. Overall, the Tacoma benefits from the general reputation of the Toyota company for vehicles built with longevity in mind, and it shouldn’t be surprising to see these trucks popping up more and more frequently on American roads, or in parking lots and driveways.
Customers who want to pick up one of these small trucks can find a 2011 model starting at around $17,000 and ranging up to well over $25,000. Although auto financing interest rates vary greatly depending on location and other factors, some auto financing websites provide general information on average financing details for this truck, citing monthly payments around the $300 mark. Buyers will soon have to decide whether they want to go for this year’s model, or take advantage of any new styling and features on the upcoming 2012 design that Toyota says it will debut at a Texas auto show later this year.
